Víctor Álvarez, Venezuela's mining and basic industries
(MIBAN) will announced next Monday the creation of a Venezuelan
state mining company a source form the MIBAM ministry told Petroleumworld.
Compania
Minera bolivariana will be the fisrt the state mining company
to be created next Monday said the official.
The
company will start with $8 million of capital and its objective
will be planning, coordination, management, and control of the
small social production companies (EPS) in the mining sector.
Álvarez
said on Monday that the government plans to take review gold and
diamond areas that foreign companies have not developed, to take
them over. and give the areas to the new state mining company.
However,
some news reports on Thursday said that the Minister has not said
he will take over the foreign mining companies.
"The
mining secretary did not mention anything about the mining issue
- only the creation of these companies," said a MIBAN executive
to news agencies.
The
president of Venezuela's mining chamber Camiven, Gilberto Sánchez,
is on record saying that representatives of private mining companies
and Mibam would start meeting in February to discuss issues regarding
investment and development laws for the mining industry.
