Víctor Álvarez, Venezuela's mining and basic industries (MIBAN) will announced next Monday the creation of a Venezuelan state mining company a source form the MIBAM ministry told Petroleumworld.

Compania Minera bolivariana will be the fisrt the state mining company to be created next Monday said the official.

The company will start with $8 million of capital and its objective will be planning, coordination, management, and control of the small social production companies (EPS) in the mining sector.

Álvarez said on Monday that the government plans to take review gold and diamond areas that foreign companies have not developed, to take them over. and give the areas to the new state mining company.

However, some news reports on Thursday said that the Minister has not said he will take over the foreign mining companies.

"The mining secretary did not mention anything about the mining issue - only the creation of these companies," said a MIBAN executive to news agencies.

The president of Venezuela's mining chamber Camiven, Gilberto Sánchez, is on record saying that representatives of private mining companies and Mibam would start meeting in February to discuss issues regarding investment and development laws for the mining industry.
