The ONS 2006 exhibition, conference and festival in Stavanger with "bridging the energy gap" as the main theme for the 2006 event, has exceeded all the organizer's expectations, with 1.251 exhibitors that attracted over 34 000 visitors and over 1.100 paying delegates, it has broke all records and organizer’s expectations, says Kjell Ursin-Smith, managing director of the ONS Foundation.

"I feel we’ve achieved that, with clear evidence that people have enjoyed themselves and a lot of positive feedback. It also looks as if a lot of business has been done, Ursin-Smiths said.

Another broken record was the 330 journalists from 20 countries register with the press center.

"My goal for the 2006 show was that people should feel welcome, and that we should see smiling faces all around," Eurasians added.

Ursin-Smiths said "At the same time, I’ve seen a number of minor areas where we’all be aiming to make improvements for the next ONS event in 2008."

"We’ve seen this reflected in the exhibition and very much in the conference. It’s even found expression in our festival program, with the Hot/cold theme in the closing concert which ranged musically from Sami to salsa." he added.

He also paid tribute to the organizing team, and took the opportunity to express his thanks to everyone who had contributed to the success of the show.

With 50 per cent of the exhibitors coming from outside Norway, the 1.251 exhibitors were organized in 3 main exhibit areas with over 17 500 square meters of stand space divided between 10 halls and various outdoor sites, with 18 national pavilions and 366 stands, which housed smaller stands. 50 per cent of the exhibitors did came from outside Norway and Twenty-three countries were represented.

ONS will be looking to achieve and even better show in ONS 2008, 26- 29 August, 2008.
