Iran's OPEC governor, Hossein Kazempour Ardebili, said on Thursday
that OPEC should not shoulder the responsibility of reducing production
alone
and non-OPEC producers should consider contributing to the output cut,
the
energy news agency Shana reported.
""In order to preserve the level of prices, it is necessary
for the
non-OPEC oil producers to support OPEC's moves at self-restraint,"
Kazempour
was quoted as saying.
He said it would not be fair for non-OPEC producers to take from OPEC's
market share if OPEC producers were to cut their own output.
"Supportive talk about this (move) is not enough in itself and
OPEC's
restraint, aimed at keeping oil prices at a favorable level, should
be backed
by non-OPEC countries," Kazempour said.
"The OPEC production cut...will naturally leave more market share
to the
non-OPEC members," he was quoted as saying.
OPEC is working on the final details of a proposed production cut of
1
million b/d to prevent a further build in high stocks and stop oil prices
from
sliding further after a 24% slump since early August.
Iran said on Wednesday that it's share of the proposed cut would be
140,000 b/d.
