Methanol
Holdings Trinidad Limited has begun work on the estimated $1.2
billion ammonia, urea and melamine plant which is to be located
at the Point Lisas Industrial Estate, Couva.
An Energy
Ministry news release projected that the plant would contribute
significantly to T&T’s economy.
“Benefits
include an estimated 2,500 jobs during construction and once
completed approximately 400 to 500 high paying permanent jobs
and an additional 600 employees for plant maintenance and overhaul
programmes,” the release said.
This plant

endorsed by Government.
The others

aluminium smelter and an Essar steel plant.
