BpTT’s
Cannonball, the first locally made platform, produced its first
gas on Sunday. Cannonball, the company’s four-year project,
which cost $250 million, is located 35 km off Galeota Point,
Mayaro in water depth of 231 feet.
It is expected
to be brought up to full production rates over the next few
weeks when gas output will be about 800 mmscf (140 mboed), about
25 per cent of the company’s overall production.
The Cannonball
wells will be high-rate gas producers and will be among the
most productive wells in BP’s worldwide portfolio, the
company stated in a release issued yesterday.
“Cannonball
will ensure that the company realises its supply commitment
to Atlantic’s LNG’s Train 4,” the release
stated.
The company
noted that Cannonball’s success has paved the way for
bpTT to progress its next two major development works, Mango
and Cashima.
“This
is a project of many firsts, for bp and for T&T. Cannonball
has built a legacy of sustainability through the creation of
distinct indigenous businesses in two sectors in T&T-platform
design and engineering and fabrication. It also demonstrates
our capacity to deliver a major project from start to finish
here in T&T,” the release stated.
